Privacy Policy

Last updated: 29 October 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Designers Choice (“we”, “us”) collects when you visit designers-choice.net (the “Site”), how we use it, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to all visitors, with extra detail for visitors in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, the United States and India.

Who we are

Designers Choice publishes reviews, comparisons and guides about design tools. For any privacy question or request, email us at contact@designers-choice.net.

What information we collect

Information you give us

  • Contact form: your name, email address, phone number (optional) and your message.
  • Comments: the name, email address and website you enter, and your comment. WordPress also records your IP address and browser user agent to help detect spam.
  • Emails: anything you send us directly, including guest post or partnership inquiries.

Information collected automatically

  • Analytics: we use Google Analytics, installed through Google Site Kit, to understand how the Site is used. It collects data such as pages viewed, time on page, the site that referred you, approximate location based on your IP address, and your device, browser and operating system. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar identifiers to do this.
  • Server logs: our hosting provider keeps standard logs for security and performance. These usually include your IP address, the date and time of the request, the page requested and your browser type.

Gravatar

If you leave a comment, a hashed string created from your email address may be sent to the Gravatar service to check whether you have a profile picture. You can read the Gravatar (Automattic) privacy policy.

How we use your information

  • To reply to your messages and inquiries.
  • To publish and moderate comments and to prevent spam and abuse.
  • To understand which content is useful and improve the Site.
  • To keep the Site secure and working properly.
  • To meet our legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

Legal bases for processing (EEA and UK)

  • Consent: where consent is required, for example for analytics cookies, and when you choose to contact us or leave a comment.
  • Legitimate interests: running, securing and improving the Site, and responding to inquiries.
  • Legal obligation: where the law requires us to keep or disclose information.

You can withdraw your consent at any time. This does not affect processing that took place before you withdrew it.

Cookies

  • Google Analytics cookies (such as _ga and _ga_*) tell visits and visitors apart so we can measure traffic.
  • Comment cookies remember your name, email and website for about a year, only if you tick the box to save them when commenting.
  • Login cookies are used only by site administrators.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. To stop Google Analytics from collecting your data on any website, you can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Who we share information with

We do not currently show third-party advertising on the Site, and we do not share your messages with advertisers.

International transfers

Some of our service providers, including Google, process data in the United States and other countries. When personal data from the EEA or UK is transferred, it is protected by safeguards such as the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or Standard Contractual Clauses.

How long we keep your information

  • Contact messages and emails: for as long as we need to handle your inquiry and any follow-up, then deleted.
  • Comments: while they are published, unless you ask us to remove them.
  • Analytics data: for the retention period set in our Google Analytics account, after which Google deletes it automatically.
  • Server logs: for a limited period set by our hosting provider.

Your rights

EEA and UK

You have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to how we use it, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw consent. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

United States

Depending on the state you live in, such as California, you may have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to access, correct or delete it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell personal information. We will not treat you differently for using any of these rights.

India

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask for a summary of the personal data we process and who we have shared it with, ask us to correct, complete, update or erase it, withdraw your consent, raise a grievance with us, and nominate another person to exercise your rights. If we do not resolve your grievance, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India.

How to make a request

Email contact@designers-choice.net with your request. We may need to confirm your identity before we act on it. We aim to reply within one month.

Children’s privacy

The Site is meant for a general audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13, or under the age of digital consent in their country (16 in parts of the EEA and 18 in India), without a parent’s consent. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We use reasonable measures to protect the Site and your data, including HTTPS encryption, restricted access to the admin area and regular software updates. No method of sending or storing data online is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Our articles link to tool vendors and other websites. Those sites have their own privacy practices, and we are not responsible for them. Please check their privacy policies before sharing your data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top shows the latest version. If we make significant changes, we will make that clear on this page.
